Multiracial Children

Raising children of any race is a challenge in today’s society, but I do believe raising mixed-race children has it’s unique circumstances. Admittedly, I haven’t taken a huge look at the plethora of resources out there yet, but these have come highly recommended.

Raising Biracial Children by Kerry Rockquemore

I’m Chocolate, You’re Vanilla: Raising Healthy Black and Biracial Children in a Race-Conscious World by Marguerite Wright

Does Anybody Else Look Like Me?: A Parent’s Guide To Raising Multiracial Children by Donna Jackson Nakazawa

The Color of Water by James McBride

Again, I can’t personally recommend any of these books yet, as I have not read them. It’s merely a list of what has been recommended to me. If you can provide any insight about these or other books about biracial or multiracial children, please feel free to comment.

That said, I often find some of the best resources are real, live people. Hearing of actual experiences people have recently gone through, I think, helps a lot. Some of these people can be found on the Inter-Racial Families board on BabyCenter (definitely my most favored board on there).
